Manchester City want to sign Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards and have asked about him already.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the talented Englishman who was part of the Under-19 European Championship winners earlier this summer.
Barry Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph that there has been a conversation over the future of the defender with City.
It seems that the Posh are not going to let him go on the cheap and the player himself does not want to go somewhere and play youth football.

Manchester City want Edwards
“City did make a phone call about him, but it was just a conversation,” he said.
“There has been interest all summer long in Ronnie. But he would rather play in League One than in City’s, or any other club’s, under 21 side.
“There is no doubt he will get to the Premier League one day and earn life-changing money. But he’s a very sensible young man and knows time is on his side.
“I suppose an ideal scenario would be a club paying proper money for him and then loaning him back to us for a season.”

Darren Ferguson said earlier this season that Edwards is an ‘incredible talent’ and the best young player he has ever managed.
It seems he is on course for a big future but needs to make the right decision when the time comes to move on eventually.
The last thing he wants to do is go somewhere he will not play often enough and his career will stall, but he does not seem to be in any rush.
