Manchester City fans react to performance of Oleksandr Zinchenko
Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko starred last night as Ukraine defeated Cyprus 4-0 to head into Euro 2020 with their confidence sky-high.
The left-back scored a penalty for his team during the comprehensive rout. West Ham ace Andriy Yarmolenko bagged a brace on the night too.
Ukraine get their Euro 2020 campaign underway on Sunday. They will meet Holland before playing North Macedonia and Austria in Group C.
Zinchenko looks like a star in the making. He has enjoyed a quality season at City, playing 32 matches under Pep Guardiola.
He played the full 90 minutes as the Citizens were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League Final last month.
City were fantastic in the league and the 24-year-old has grown under the Spanish manager.
Zinchenko has played exactly 100 times for the Premier League champions and is growing as a player.
Last night was the sixth time he has scored on the international stage and he’ll hope to shine at Euro 2020.
Stardom beckons for Zinchenko at City
At 24 the future is very bright for the Ukrainian youngster and a promising Euro 2020 could see his stock rise further.
Guardiola has trusted him to play regularly at a young age and he’s gone from strength to strength.
Supporters are certainly excited to see how he can develop in the future.
He might not be limited to a left-back berth either. Zinchenko has the attributes to play as a wing-back, or even in a more advanced wide role.
Despite his tender years he has plenty of experience under his belt and he’s an exciting member of the City team.
Guardiola has done good things with the club’s younger players, with Zinchenko on a long list.
After his goal last night, City fans have been reacting on Twitter to his performance and his well-taken penalty.
Here is what they had to say as Zinchenko shone for the Ukraine.
