Manchester City fans react to Arsenal being linked with defender Eric Garcia

Arsenal are being linked with Manchester City defender Eric Garcia – and some City fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they want to see him leave the Etihad Stadium.

The 19-year-old is currently out of contract at the Premier League giants at the end of this season and there has been plenty of speculation in recent times about a possible exit.

According to the Sun, the Spain international rejected a new City deal in the summer to try force a move back to his former club Barcelona.

It is understood that Barcelona failed to fork up the £13.5million asking price in the summer and it may be a similar case in January, meaning they could wait until he becomes a free agent.

But the report adds that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the Spaniard, although again the club may need to wait until the summer to move due to the amount of centre-backs current in the squad at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City, has seen Garcia first hand and wants to try bring him to London.

He’s looking to seal a return to Barcelona, but Arsenal certainly have weaknesses in their backline and promising star Garcia could be a great investment if they sign him.
