Manchester City fans react as Patrick Vieira could reportedly sign one of their young talents for Palace
A report has claimed that Patrick Vieira could raid Manchester City this summer and lure youngster Claudio Gomes to Selhurst Park. Vieira has a big rebuilding job on his hands at Palace and will need to use his connections. City fans think a loan move to Palace suits Gomes this summer.
Vieira has completed the signing of Michael Olise from Reading for a fee of £8million, but the new Eagles gaffer needs a whole lot more. That is because Palace are about to wave goodbye to more than 10 players on free transfers. Vieira has since been linked with numerous Arsenal and City players.
Of course, Vieira is one of the Premier League’s most-iconic captains having worn the armband during Arsenal’s Invincibles era. Vieira also finished his career at Manchester City and coached their Under-23 side, before moving to New York City. He has plenty of connections, then.
What are Manchester City fans saying about Gomes potentially joining Palace on loan?
A recent report suggested that Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Calum Chambers could be options for Palace, from Arsenal. In the same report from 90Min it is claimed that Philippe Sandler and 20-year-old Gomes could also be recruited by Vieira in the coming weeks and months.
Naturally a defensive midfielder, Gomes is able to play anywhere in defence too. That versatility is key, given Martin Kelly, Joel Ward, Nathaniel Clyne, Scott Dann, Gary Cahill, Mamadou Sakho and Patrick van Aanholt are all off. Manchester City fans think a move to Palace would be good for Gomes.
