Manchester City fans react as Mauricio Pochettino reportedly looks to sign 26-year-old

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly looking to raid Manchester City and lure Benjamin Mendy back to France ahead of the summer, with the left-back currently out of favour – and City fans have reacted on Twitter, agreeing it is time to wave goodbye.

Mendy, 26, has struggled since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2017. The 10-time France international has only clocked up 65 appearances in the best part of four seasons – and is third choice at left-back right now.

Right-footed Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko are both preferred on the left side of the defence. The World Cup winner has had to endure numerous injuries, and ultimately, it seems as though those issues have had a permanent effect.

The Sun claim that Pochettino is keen on signing Mendy from City in the summer, despite already boasting left-backs in the form of Layvin Kurzawa and Juan Bernat. It would see Mendy return to France, having played for Marseille and Monaco.

City fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Pochettino is planning a summer move for Mendy and many are desperate to see him leave The Etihad, as he continues to struggle for game time – having failed to play in the Premier League since December.
