Manchester City fans have been reacting to an official announcement from the club that Fernandinho has signed a new one-year extension with the club.
The new deal will take him to the summer of 2021, by which point he’ll have spent eight seasons at the Etihad.
Fernandinho joined City in 2013 for a reported fee of £30 million from Shakhtar Donetsk (BBC Sport) just before Manuel Pellegrini took over as manager at the club.

To date, he’s racked up 299 appearances for the club and won eight trophies, including three Premier League titles.
The Brazilian has arguably been one of the club’s finest acquisitions since the takeover by Sheikh Mansour in 2008, and this season he has shown his quality once again filling in as a central defender in the absence of Aymeric Laporte.
The South American’s future has been a hot topic for fans in recent months.
Alarm bells rang in December, when winger Riyad Mahrez appeared to suggest he would be leaving during a Christmas quiz with Sky Sports.

Asked which played had revealed he would be leaving in the summer of 2020, Mahrez answered ‘David [Silva] and Fernandinho’, suggesting he’d let slip something he was told in private.
City fans react
The Algerian’s suggestion has turned out to be incorrect, and many City supporters are delighted they’ll be seeing Fernandinho for another season.
