Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria ahead of the summer window, as the club looks to replace the loss of Fernandinho – and City supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Veteran Fernandinho – like Sergio Aguero – is out of contract in June. He is expected to leave the club in the summer and City are said to be scouring the market for a replacement. Indeed, City have seemingly set their sights on one of them.
Sky Sports claim Zakaria, 24, is being monitored by Pep Guardiola’s side. The Switzerland international faced Manchester City in the first knockout round of the Champions League earlier this season – impressing against the likes of Kevin De Bruyne.
Zakaria is renowned for his strength, athleticism but also his technical abilities which allows him to pass both long and short with aplomb. It remains to be seen how much City would have to spend to get the Switzerland international in the coming weeks.
City fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Zakaria is interesting their club as a possible replacement for Fernandinho ahead of the summer window – and many believe he would be a solid addition for the soon-to-be Premier League champions.
