Manchester City fans react as club reportedly eye German left-footer

Manchester City are reportedly looking to bring Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens to the Premier League this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to sort that specific position in his side – and City supporters think his signing could see another leave.

Gosens, 26, is in the form of his life for Champions League side Atalanta – having a hand in 15 goals during 30 league and cup appearances for the Italian outfit. Gosens has scored nine times for his current club, also creating six.

That form has not gone unnoticed. On the international stage, Gosens has clocked up four caps and has a real chance of breaking into Germany’s side ahead of Euro 2021 – while bigger European clubs are also taking a look at the left-back.

Able to play in defence or in midfield, Gosens is said to have attracted interest from Manchester City. But TuttoMercatoWeb claim City are not the only team interested – with Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan and Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus also interested.

The report states that a fee of just £26million could be enough to sign Gosens in the summer. City fans reacted on Twitter to the news that the player could be targeted by City in the coming months, and many feel it could spell the end of Benjamin Mendy.

Mendy, 26, is yet to play a single league game since the turn of the year, remaining an unused sub during the last 14 Premier League games – with Oleksandr Zinchenko preferred. Fans think Gosens arriving, would see £90k a week (Spotrac) Mendy sold.
