Manchester City fans rave about Lukas Nmecha after Sunday heroics
Manchester City youngster Lukas Nmecha had a Sunday night to remember as the Germany Under-21s won the European Championship.
His goal proved decisive as the Germans secured a narrow victory over their counterparts from Portugal.
Nmecha struck just after half-time to put his team into the ascendancy and on the cusp of claiming silverware.
Naturally his performance caught the eye of City supporters who seem delighted with his progress.
Last night put the seal on a superb season for the 22-year-old. He spent 2020/21 on loan with Anderlecht, firing 21 goals for Vincent Kompany’s team.
Nmecha has been on loan previously with limited success. Spells at Middlesbrough and Wolfsburg were poor, whilst he did okay during a season at Preston.
City fans seem excited though and clearly Kompany has got the best out of him.
His 21 goals during the campaign will have increased his confidence considerably.
Nmecha does have just a single year left on his contract. As a result, Pep Guardiola will need to decide where he sees the youngster’s future.
Last night was the 12th time the starlet has scored in 20 Germany under-21 caps and the future looks bright.
City fans want Nmecha to earn Etihad Stadium chance
Following his famous goal for the under-21s last night, supporters have taken to Twitter to rave about the youngster.
Plenty have used it as another nod towards the club’s academy and want the striker to earn a chance at City.
Over the past 12 months he could hardly have done more. He’s gone out on loan and scored goals and is now producing the good for the under-21 ranks.
City have lost Sergio Aguero this summer to Barcelona and a striker will be required.
Although a stellar recruit will be sought, there’s no reason why Guardiola shouldn’t give Nmecha a chance.
Here is what the City faithful had to say after Nmecha’s moment of magic last night.
