Manchester City took another step towards the Premier League title by beating Aston Villa on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter singled out Bernardo Silva for huge praise after his display.
Pep Guardiola’s side secured a 2-1 victory in midweek at Villa Park, which moved them 11 points clear at the top of the table above rivals Manchester United.
John McGinn remarkably put hosts Villa ahead inside 20 seconds, but Man City fought back with first half goals from Phil Foden and eventual winning goalscorer Rodri.
There was extra drama to the match when John Stones was shown a straight red card just before half time. Additionally, Matty Cash received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 57th minute to even things out.

A selection of Man City supporters on social media picked out Silva for his contribution against Villa, with some suggesting he plays better when injured talisman Kevin De Bruyne isn’t on the pitch.
Silva, who assisted both of his teams goals, is an attacking midfielder that looked at his creative best on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old Portuguese left-footer pulled back an accurate pass to Foden for his equaliser, before providing a lofted cross from the right channel to set up Rodri’s header.
