Manchester City recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory over Tottenham on Saturday evening – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out Oleksandr Zinchenko for huge praise after his display.

Pep Guardiola got the better of old rival Jose Mourinho, as two of the world’s high-profile managers faced off.

Man City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points with their win over Spurs and look like they’ll be very difficult to stop this season.

Rodri’s first-half penalty put the hosts in front at the Etihad Stadium, before in-form midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored twice in the second period to wrap up the victory.

They looked in control during the match with 61 per cent possession and travel to Everton in midweek for their next match.

A selection of Man City supporters on social media felt that Zinchenko was someone who deserved credit, with one calling him an “unsung hero”.

The 24-year-old left-back returned to the XI against Spurs and was part of an organised backline that kept another clean sheet.

He looked a threat going forward and showed real intent from full-back with overlapping runs, plus he was defensively astute to help break up play.
