Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has reportedly emerged as an option for both West Ham United and Newcastle United ahead of January – and fans of the Premier League champions have responded.
West Ham are expected to be in the January market for a central defender, with Angelo Ogbonna suffering a long-term knee injury. The Hammers are still fighting on all four fronts as we enter the Christmas period.
The Hammers take on Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, and have already finished top of their Europa League group. They are one of 32 teams competing for the Europa League trophy.
So, squad depth will be crucial and with just three centre-backs available – David Moyes will be keen to bring in another addition at the back. 90Min say Ake has emerged as a priority.

What do Man City fans think of Ake being eyed by West Ham, Newcastle?
Ake is a top player. He provides cover for Manchester City at both left-back, left of a back three or as a centre-back in a four-man defence. The Netherlands international is incredibly useful.
But for Ake, that might prove to be his detriment. His versatility makes him a good squad player, a useful option on the bench. He needs game time, and 90Min say Eddie Howe wants a reunion at Newcastle.
A new report from 90Min also states that West Ham are keen. Manchester City fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports and many are seemingly willing to wave goodbye.
