Manchester City nicked a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday evening at The Etihad thanks to goals from Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan – and City fans have discussed the performance of Jack Grealish on Twitter.
City came into the match in excellent form – winning their last eight league and cup matches, five of which have come in the Champions League. The newly-formed partnership of John Stones and Ruben Dies has been crucial.
Grealish, 25, may have been looking to impress on the big stage – in front of Pep Guardiola. The Independent claimed back in November that Manchester City – and Kevin De Bruyne – wanted the England star signed.
He has signed a new contract that makes him the club’s highest-paid player, but his future remains up in the air at Villa – given he is showing the kind of quality expected of a Champions League side.

He showed glimpses of quality on Wednesday night, but despite the injury to Kyle Walker – the Villa skipper could not find the breakthrough against a solid City defence that earned all three points and a clean sheet.
Portugal international Silva opened the scoring in the second half with a brilliant effort from the edge of the area into the top corner, before Ilkay Gundogan made it two late on from the penalty spot.
City supporters reacted to Grealish’s performance on Twitter and many were impressed with what they saw – some urging their club to bring the Villa number 10 to Manchester.
