Manchester City fans credit one player despite 2-1 defeat to Leeds

Manchester City were beaten 2-1 at home to Leeds United on Saturday afternoon – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least give praise to their defender John Stones for his performance.

Man City suffered a surprise defeat at the Etihad Stadium, as they missed the chance to extended their lead at the top of the Premier League and edge closer to a possible title.

Stuart Dallas put the visitors in front with his goal in the 42nd minute, but the momentum shifted when Leeds captain Liam Cooper was sent off on the stroke of half time for his challenge.

Man City eventually found a way through the Leeds backline with 15 minutes to go courtesy of Ferran Torres’ equaliser, but a brave Leeds team snatched three points in stoppage tie with a second goal from midfielder Dallas.

The league fixture was played in-between the Champions League two-legged quarter-final with Borussia Dortmund, and perhaps one eye was off the ball on Saturday.

Guardiola rotated like he so often does, and he’s got the squad to do that, but his team didn’t click in the final third.

A selection of Man City supporters on social media believe that their defender Stones was one positive.

The 26-year-old appeared to play most of the game in the opposition’s half pushing on from centre-back and looked to be creative.

Unfortunately, the England international was part of a team that received a later sucker punch from Leeds.
