Manchester City booked their spot in the Champions League semi-finals with a win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were amazed by the display of their star man Kevin De Bruyne.
Man City will face French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of this season’s competition after their superb victory in midweek.
Pep Guardiola’s side won 2-1 away to German opposition Borussia Dortmund tonight, which gave them a 4-2 aggregate win.
Despite qualification to the next stage, Dortmund’s early goal on the night through England international Jude Bellingham put Dortmund ahead in the tie via the away goal rule.
As Man City continued to ask questions of Dortmund’s defence, Riyad Mahrez’s scored from the penalty spot in the second half, before Phil Foden added another with his strike in off the post.
De Bruyne, 29, was instrumental on the night playing in one of the attacking positions.
The Belgian ace went close to scoring on two occasions, including an effort in the first half that struck against the crossbar.
A selection of Man City supporters on social media were raving about De Bruyne after his display, including one that called him the “true leader” within the squad at the Etihad Stadium.
Here are some fans discussing his contribution on the Champions League stage:
That front 3 tonight has been outstanding but De Bruyne is just on another planet, football wise. Glides past people, finds the right pass in the most important moments. Best player to ever wear the City shirt.

Still a lot of players playing far from their best (Gundogan, Rodri, Dias) but the class of De Bruyne and Foden carried us through. KDB especially brilliant over the two legs – a true leader.
