Gabriel Jesus, Manchester City’s £27 million signing from Palmeiras over the summer, has finally been given permission to complete his deal to England and will feature in Pep Guardiola’s squad this weekend.
The clearance of the deal, necessary in order for Jesus to make his debut for Guardiola’s side, had been delayed due to checking over the paperwork involved in the move, but the club have officially unveiled the youngster this morning – just in time for the vital encounter with Tottenham on Saturday evening.
The Brazilian forward has scored four times in his six international appearances, and Guardiola will be looking to the 19-year-old to add some much-needed attacking impetus as City attempt to close the gap on leaders Chelsea.
It’s unlikely that Jesus will start against in-form Spurs, but it’s very much expected that he will feature at some point as he looks to rectify Man City’s toothless attacking threat against Everton.
Pep Guardiola’s side are reportedly looking to strengthen their forward line further, with Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann being linked with a move to the blue side of Manchester according to reports in the Evening Standard.
Despite the vast majority of recent rumours linking Griezmann with an £86 million move to City’s rivals Manchester United, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has come out and said that he may have to accept that his key-man may be leaving Spain this summer. He said:
“I don’t tie anybody down, I simply keep working to continue getting better for the sake of the club. He is working well, has got back on the score-sheet and his form is good. It is normal that the best teams in the world want him. I am not surprised that the teams who are looking are the ones who can afford him”
City’s official Twitter account also added fuel to the Griezmann fire about posting this cryptic tweet earlier this morning – could they be set to steal the French international away from Old Trafford?
At the other end of the pitch, Manchester City’s 19-year-old defender Tosin Adarabioyo is close to a move away from the Etihad Stadium due to his frustration at a lack of first-team opportunities this season.
Adarabioyo, who has been held in high regard by those at the club after coming through City’s academy system, is linked with a move away according to the Daily Mail – with Ronald Koeman’s Everton side reportedly one of the parties interested in the youngster.
Proposed contract talks between the 19-year-old and the club have stalled, and despite playing twice under Guardiola this season it appears that Adarabioyo will look elsewhere for the sake of his career.
