Burnley continue to punch above their weight

This was practically a free hit for Burnley, who were not expected to put up much of a fight against City. But the spirit and character with which they’ve played all season was in evidence again at the Etihad Stadium. They made the home side work extremely hard for the three points and could have snatched a draw had their finishing been better in the latter stages. Much has been written about the Clarets’ away form – they have only one point on their travels this season – but such is their form at Turf Moor that it is almost inconsequential. In the relative comfort of mid-table, they have exceeded all expectations thus far after being the surprise package in the Championship last term. With the smallest budget in the Premier League, manager Sean Dyche has worked wonders. Most observers thought they would be cannon fodder, but they have proved to everyone that they are in the top-flight on merit.
