Reported Glasgow Rangers target Florian Kamberi is officially not in Jack Ross’ plans for the season, providing a transfer boost to the Ibrox side in their search for reinforcements up front.
The Hibernian striker spent the second half of last season on loan with Steven Gerrard’s side and angered his parent club’s fans with his comments upon joining Rangers, claiming Ibrox was his “dream” move and calling Bears “the best fans in the world”.
Kamberi, 25, made nine appearances for Rangers, scoring once and claiming two assists, but with the Scottish Premiership season being suspended in March and ultimately curtailed, he eventually returned to Hibs.

According to a report in the Daily Record from mid-June, Gerrard remains interested in bringing the £150,000-rated forward to Rangers, although there appears to be competition for his services from south of the border and from Europe.
Swiss-born Kamberi recently flew back to his home country, where he was expected to enter detailed discussions with suitors – St Gallen, Young Boys and Basel have all been linked, according to the Glasgow Times.
However, the Daily Record suggested that the race isn’t over for Rangers, also including quotes from Hibs boss Ross following his side’s pre-season friendly with Celtic on Monday.
“He remains a Hibs player obviously because he’s contracted for another season but he’s not been part of any of our plans for pre-season or played in any games,” he is quoted by the Daily Record as saying.
“He won’t be part of my plans for the season so we need to find a solution for both parties as soon as possible. The sooner that’s done, the better for Florian as a player and for us as a club.”
TBR View:
While Kamberi’s kind comments about Rangers and the fans went down a treat with the Bears, you can understand why Hibs fans weren’t at all impressed by them, and with Ross confirming that he wants the player moved on, it bodes well for all reported suitors.
With Alfredo Morelos being heavily linked with a departure from Ibrox and Jermain Defoe injured, what was a pressing need from Rangers to bolster their attack has now become critical ahead of the new season, and they need to move quick if they want the 6ft 2in ace.
