Julian Nagelsmann has now suggested that he wants to stay in charge of Germany – instead of taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
The 36-year-old has been shortlisted as a potential replacement by Fenway Sports Group, according to the Telegraph.
So, what did Julian Nagelsmann say about his future as Liverpool show interest? Let’s take a look…
Julian Nagelsmann suggests he does not want Liverpool job
Well – as aforesaid – the man from Landsberg am Lech is currently in charge of the German National Team and is preparing for UEFA EURO 2024 this summer.
However, Nagelsmann’s contract with Germany expires after the tournament.
The German revealed that he is yet to be offered fresh terms, but there is a “good chance” he would sign a contract if it was put on the table, strongly suggesting he holds no desire to replace Klopp.
Nagelsmann is quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying: “There’s a good chance that I’ll sign before the Euros if I have an offer that I’m happy with, but I don’t have anything on the table as of now. Nothing is concrete in terms of talks. It’s all open, focus on the Euros.”

Presumably, Germany are waiting to see how the Liverpool target performs at UEFA EURO 2024 before making a decision.
FSG should cross 36-year-old off the list now
In our view, FSG will not be hiring Nagelsmann to replace Klopp.
The 36-year-old evidently prefers to stay in charge of Germany, and Liverpool cannot afford to wait.
A decision is only likely to be made on Nagelsmann after UEFA EURO 2024 ends on 14th July, and Liverpool are highly unlikely to wait that long until replacing Klopp.

Presumably, FSG will have a new manager lined up before the 2023/24 campaign even finishes, and they will work alongside Michael Edwards to identify transfer targets for the summer window.
Unless Nagelsmann suddenly resigns from the Germany job in the coming weeks, we highly doubt he will be replacing Klopp at Anfield.
