Arsenal have been linked with Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara in recent weeks.

In July, Givemesport claimed that the Gunners wanted to re-sign the 25-year-old.

Kamara came through the ranks at Arsenal before leaving to join Dundee in June 2017.

He then joined the Gers in January 2019 for £50,000 and helped them win the Scottish Premiership title last season.

In addition, Kamara also helped Finland quality for Euro 2020 and played the full 90 minutes in each of his country’s group games.

Although Arsenal have signed Albert Sambi Lokonga, there’s certainly scope for Gunners duo Mikel Arteta and Edu to bolster their midfield ranks further.

in June, the Daily Mail claimed that the Gers value Kamara at around £10million.

Could Arsenal pounce after Gers Champions League setback?

Rangers suffered a big setback in midweek as Malmo knocked them out of the Champions League in the qualifying rounds.

According to The Athletic, Rangers have forecast that they will lose £14.4million this season.

Europa League group-stage football is the base expectation budget-wise, and the Champions League would have alleviated some of that deficit.

But now, “the numbers do not add up unless Rangers cash in on one, possibly two, of their high-value players”.

“If the right numbers land…”

When asked if players could depart because of their setback in midweek, Steven Gerrard told Sky Sports: “Not on the back of the last few results.

“But at the same time I’m well aware of how this club works and how it runs and we are a club that if the right numbers land for our players, we do have to recycle.

“But nothing has been said to me since that game in terms of being in a rush or a hurry to do that and nothing has changed in terms of me wanting to keep our best players here moving forward.

“But I totally understand how the club runs, how it works and if the right numbers land for an individual or a number of individuals I know they’ll be considered above me.

“I’m not naïve enough to think that the last two results won’t have an impact somewhere down the line.

“Even if we were successful against Malmo, if the right number lands for a player here I think the board are going to listen and consider it.

“We haven’t had a realistic bid in black and white for any of our players.

“We haven’t had a serious phone call for any of our players, and that’s the reality.”
