Arsenal are believed to be interested in Jesse Lingard, who has been sensational since joining West Ham on loan at the end of the January transfer window.

The Sun reported in April that the Gunners have made tentative enquiries about the Manchester United loanee with a view to a summer move.

Lingard has been one of the Premier League success stories of 2021, registering an incredible nine goals and four assists from his first 10 Premier League games for West Ham.

There’s bound to be a lot of interest in the 28-year-old during the summer – that is, if his parent club doesn’t decide to keep hold of him and make him a regular starter once again.

Unsurprisingly, West Ham boss David Moyes is eager for Lingard to stay put beyond the end of the season.

Asked by football.london how realistic it would be for the Hammers to sign him, the manager replied: “I am not actually sure how realistic it is.

“Obviously, I think Jesse has enjoyed himself, I hope he has, we have enjoyed having him and he is Manchester United’s player so they can decide what to do with him.

“And if they want to let him go then let’s hope he would consider us as one of his options.”

Asked about the secret to the player’s success in claret and blue, Moyes replied: “I generally think he joined a team that was in great spirits and a good mood and doing a lot of good things.

“Jesse has added to that and given us another dimension but we were playing well and the players were doing well and we just needed to add something else.

“We could not get a centre forward in January and we brought Jesse to give us another option because he can play two or three positions.

“We have enjoyed having him and I am sure he has enjoyed being here as well, he is getting a lot of accolades and is back in the England squad.

“I hope he goes onto make the Euros and in time we will find out if Jesse is going to be a Manchester United player or if he will play for somebody else.”

According to The Mirror, United value Lingard at £30million.
