Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are two of the clubs said to have been in pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg’s Oscar Gloukh in recent months.

In November, 90Min reported that Spurs and the Gunners had sent scouts to watch Gloukh and some of his teammates in Austrian Bundesliga action.

Salzburg manager Gerhard Struber, speaking to Sky Sports, has claimed that the 19-year-old is “different” to your average player.

“Oscar is, from a technical standpoint, a different player,” he said. “He brings a lot of football intelligence with him. He is a scorer but also a hard worker.

“I think that mix makes him very interesting for the top clubs in Europe’s best leagues right now.”

Salzburg’s business model involves buying talented gems and polishing them into players worthy of big-career moves for a sizeable profit.

“Salzburg can be a trampoline for many big talents. You have the chance to play at a good level and at the same time in the Champions League,” added Struber.

“That is everything players want because you get to play against the best teams in Europe so if you realise good performances it is clear that you have an interesting phase for the next transfer.

“We are a very interesting environment for young players.”

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly looking around for potential reinforcements in the middle of the park during the January transfer window.

Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg faces an uncertain future at N17, while James Maddison is injured and Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have gone to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, Arsenal star Thomas Partey has only featured five times this season, while the jury remains out on Fabio Vieira (who is also injured) and loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Gloukh has been going from strength to strength at Salzburg. The £40million-rated ace has made a name for himself as one of the top talents in the team and potentially the club’s next big sale.

The 19-year-old playmaker joined Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January last year for a reported £6million. His club tally reads 42 appearances, eight goals and eight assists.

Gloukh has six goals and six assists from 25 outings for his club this season. He has also won 11 caps for Israel, with three goals under his belt.
