Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos requires surgery after suffering a knee injury, Stuttgart manager Pellegrino Matarazzo has confirmed.
The Gunners defender signed a new deal with Arsenal in July before joining the Bundesliga side on a season-long loan.
However, Mavropanos suffered the injury during a friendly with Freiburg and must undergo an operation on his meniscus in the coming days, presumably facing a lengthy layoff.

“Dinos injured his meniscus in the friendly against @scfreiburg and is going to have to be operated on,” said Matarazzo.
Mavropanos, a Greece Under-21 international, has been on the books at Arsenal since January 2018, when he joined from PAS Giannina.
However, injury issues have led to the 22-year-old making just eight first-team appearances with the North London club, much of his game time coming for the Under-23s.
In January, Mavropanos joined 2. Bundesliga side FC Nurnberg on loan for the second half of the 2019-20 campaign, making 12 appearances.
TBR View:
Mavropanos may have not had much game time for Arsenal’s senior side but he’s clearly rated highly by the Gunners coaches, hence his new contract.
It’s unfortunate to hear that he’s picked up an injury which requires an operation – we wish him all the best in his recovery.
