Reported Arsenal target Said Benrahma was handed his first start of the season for Brentford on Thursday and impressed on his return to the XI with a brace.
At the end of August, 90Min claimed that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners were eyeing a double deal for the 24-year-old attacker and teammate David Raya, the Bees goalkeeper.
Benrahma has also been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace, Fulham and Chelsea following his superb efforts for the Championship side last season.
The Algeria international missed out on five matchday squads this season but, with a move yet to materialise, Thomas Frank has eased him back into action.
After a 17-minute cameo against Millwall, Benrahma started against Fulham in the League Cup and grabbed his side’s second and third goals en route to a 3-0 win.
His first was a finish at the far post following a Dominic Thompson free kick headed on across goal by Ethan Pinnock.
His second, meanwhile, saw him Cruyff turn and nutmeg his marker before taking a touch and firing a long-range effort into the bottom-right corner of the net.
“Am I confident he will stay? I’m confident that I would love him to stay, and I would love to have him,” Frank told Press Association, as quoted by the Evening Express.
“But I don’t know. Honestly. If the price is right we are open to selling, but if not we will be happy for him to stay.
“Either we are going to get a top price or we are going to keep one of the best players in the Championship. Has he added a few million to his price? 100 percent!”
Benrahma is clearly a cut above in the Championship and surely it’s just a matter of time before he’s plying his trade in the Premier League.
The interest from the player in Arsenal certainly seems to be there, if reports are to be believed.
But realistically, do the Gunners need anyone else on the attacking flanks, particularly for a reported £25million, considering central midfield is more of a pressing issue?
