Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are just two of the clubs linked with Mohamed Simakan and the player’s manager appears to have accepted that he may leave sooner rather than later.

According to RMC Sport, the Toffees and Spurs have scouted the Strasbourg defender over the past few months, as have Southampton, AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund.

Simakan, who turned 20 just this month, has enjoyed a bright maiden season in the French club’s first team, clocking up 25 appearances in all competitions since his debut in July last year.

While the 6ft 2in ace is contracted to Strasbourg until 2023, the impact of the global health crisis on the football industry is expected to deal a huge financial blow to plenty of clubs worldwide.

Strasbourg coach Thierry Laurey would like Simakan to stay put at the club for a while longer, but is aware that, should the club be made a decent offer, there’s a good chance he’ll lose the player’s services.

“Him and others!” Laurey told 20 Minutes when asked if he wanted Simakan to stay. “Today, we have a coherent team so I don’t want to let anyone go. But if someone has to leave us, we will adapt.”

With both Tottenham and Everton having experienced problems at the back this season, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti have been linked with numerous defenders over the past few months.

Simakan’s talent and versatility – he can play at centre-back and right-back – combined with a reportedly modest price tag – AC Milan were said to be preparing a £13million bid for him – makes his a seemingly appealing target for the two Premier League clubs.
