Alejandro Garnacho is confirmed to be off to Chelsea, with the young Argentine swapping Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge in a £40m deal.
TBR Football revealed on Thursday that the Garnacho to Chelsea deal was done and dusted, with the winger set to be presented to the Chelsea crowd before the Fulham clash.
Ruben Amorim made it clear to Garnacho that there was no room for him in his Manchester United side, which led to the academy graduate being deemed surplus to requirements at Carrington.

And what a grand old shame for Manchester United supporters. When Garnacho first emerged on the scene, there was an element of excitement to watch the young talent blossom in a red shirt – now he’ll be doing just this in a blue jersey.
A sorry shame, given the club’s traditions and values, but at least they got a rather sizeable sum for once.
Where does Garnacho rank in Man United’s biggest sales ever?
Garnacho is Manchester United’s fourth biggest sale ever, putting him just behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku.
| Rank | Player | Sale fee | Buyer | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cristiano Ronaldo | £80m | Real Madrid | 2009 |
| 2 | Romelu Lukaku | £73m | Inter Milan | 2019 |
| 3 | Angel di Maria | £44m | PSG | 2015 |
| 4 | Alejandro Garnacho | £40m | Chelsea | 2025 |
| 5 | Scott McTominay | £25.7m | Napoli | 2024 |
The £40m fee also means he’s the most expensive academy graduate to leave the club. But could this record be broken within days? It’s a major possibility.
Manchester United can’t let Kobbie Mainoo go after Garnacho
Kobbie Mainoo is rumoured to leave Manchester United, with the midfielder seemingly unhappy with game time under Ruben Amorim.
TBR Football revealed United are open to selling Mainoo before the deadline on Monday, which would mean yet another academy graduate would depart Old Trafford.
If Mainoo were to leave after Garnacho, it would simply have to be for more than £40m.
Garnacho is a talent, but Mainoo is generational, and to prise him away would surely break the club record once more in a matter of days. Reports from the Athletic indicate £45m at minimum for the 20-year-old.
This would be an absolute disaster. Losing Mainoo is unfathomable from a United fan’s perspective, especially to see two of the three of the holy trio of Garnacho, Mainoo, and Amad Diallo depart.
