Manchester United have always been renowned for embracing and nurturing youth – but Ruben Amorim now has his hands on an absolute gem of a youngster.

In recent seasons, United have certainly unearthed some serious talent. The potentially departing Kobbie Mainoo is an outrageously gifted midfielder who blossomed under Erik ten Hag.

Then there’s the unsettled Alejandro Garnacho, who has already established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young prospects.

Alongside those academy graduates, United have also invested smartly in youth. Leny Yoro, Chido-Obi, and Ayden Heaven all look like future superstars – with the latter, in particular, an extremely exciting prospect.

Manchester United’s Ayden Heaven terrorised teams as a youngster

Heaven has begun his Manchester United career brilliantly, and this is no surprise given what his mother, Lisa, has revealed about the 18-year-old’s youth career.

In an interview with the Premier League, they reminisced on Heaven’s early beginnings. They said: “We went to a Sunday league club when he was six, and I think the scoreline was like 17–1”, Heaven’s mother began.

“Then they pulled me to one side and were like, “Basically, he’s ruining the game for everyone. The other kids on his team are crying because he’s not passing. He’s literally dribbling through everyone and scoring all the goals.”

“They basically said, “Don’t come back.” And then they put us in touch with Spurs pre-development.”

Heaven, in the end, snubbed Spurs and went to Arsenal, where he “fell in love” with the club. Despite this – he still made the move to Old Trafford last season.

Why did Ayden Heaven join Manchester United from Arsenal?

In the same interview, Lisa said Heaven left Arsenal as he was convinced by a move to Old Trafford after meeting with the club.

Barcelona invited Heaven for talks the very next morning, but his decision was clear.

“Ayden walked away, going, ‘yeah, it’s United’,” said Lisa.

“We talked again in the morning because we were invited to Barcelona the next day, and he said, ‘nope, it’s United’.

“That’s why I knew it was the best move for him because he’s picked it from the heart, and if he’s got the heart and the loyalty, then that’s what wins the game.

“I’d been watching United, I knew Ayden’s playing style, and I knew what Ruben [Amorim] liked. Ayden had the same confidence,” she added.

Heaven has some future ahead of him. United have a top prospect on their hands.
