Man United won’t be signing player Benjamin Sesko’s alternative says is the toughest he’s ever faced

Ruben Amorim has received a transfer blow after a target suggested he will not be moving to Manchester United.

The Red Devils suffered a crushing 3-0 loss in the Manchester derby on Sunday, with Amorim under immense pressure at Old Trafford following his third defeat in five matches.

Man United sanctioned a substantial summer outlay to provide the Portuguese boss with star-studded additions, but these have yet to yield results in the Premier League.

Micah Richards warned that United will not improve as long as the boss persists with his unique style of play, which resulted in the club’s worst-ever league finish last season.

And now it appears that Amorim’s fortunes will have a significant impact on the club’s transfer plans, as one target has already ruled himself out of a move to Old Trafford.

Dayot Upamecano will not be joining Manchester United

According to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano tops the shortlist at United as he plays out the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

However, Fabrizio Romano shared direct quotes from the defender via X, as he reaffirmed his desire to continue with Bayern beyond the end of the season.

“I feel comfortable here, I’m happy. My agent is speaking to Bayern officials. The talks are ongoing. There’s nothing more to say. We’ll see what happens.”

Prior to his move to Bayern in 2021, Upamecano was on Liverpool’s radar, but former boss Jurgen Klopp opted to trigger the release clause of his RB Leipzig teammate Ibrahima Konate.

Man United also considered signing Evan Ndicka at the beginning of the summer; however, a move failed to materialise as Amorim focused his efforts on revamping the front line.

Benjamin Sesko was the final offensive arrival at Old Trafford following his £74 million move from RB Leipzig after United beat Newcastle for the Slovenian’s signature.

Nick Woltemade names Dayot Upamecano as his toughest opponent

Newcastle instead signed Nick Woltemade in the final days of the summer transfer window after missing out on Sesko.

The German international scored on his Premier League debut at St James’ Park in the 1-0 win against Wolves, while Sesko is still waiting to open his account for United.

Woltemade recently sat down with the Sky Sports Premier League podcast and revealed Upamecano is the toughest opponent he has ever faced.

“Upamecano. I know he’s really good, yeah, yeah. From Bayern, I played Ruben Dias, yeah, I played Ruben Dias, of course, he was also a really good player. But Upamecano, he’s really fast, and it’s hard to play against him.”
