Manchester United want to sign a striker this summer and Benjamin Sesko is one of the top names on their list of targets.

However, Newcastle are also in the picture for Sesko, which could scupper Ruben Amorim’s transfer plans at Old Trafford.

Despite having Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, the Red Devils are keen to add another, although that could mean one of the two is sold.

But should they wish to sign Sesko, Manchester United have been warned what they must do in order to stand a chance of signing him.

Manchester United must act quickly for Benjamin Sesko

Man United have been told they’ll need to act quickly to sign Benjamin Sesko, with Newcastle United in advanced talks for the striker, according to Ben Jacobs.

As TBR Football revealed last Friday, Sesko started talks with Newcastle, and they are now advanced on the player’s side.

Talks with RB Leipzig have already commenced, and the Tyneside club are ready to make their first offer for the striker.

Currently, United are deliberating between Sesko and Ollie Watkins, and they will now need to make a quick decision to avoid missing out on the former.

Jacobs told TalkSPORT: “If Manchester United want Sesko, they’re going to have to be quicker than for Ollie Watkins because Newcastle are advanced on the player’s side, they’re in club-to-club talks, they’re ready to bid.

“Manchester United are still have internal conversations and as a consequence, their outreach for both Watkins and Sesko is still formative.

“But I get the impression that this is a big week in the pursuit of a number nine because if it’s Sesko, Man United are going to have to get moving. If we hear a bit of a lull, it probably means they’re looking for proven Premier League experience.”

Watkins and Sesko are two very different targets, with Watkins aged 28, but able to offer almost a guarantee of goals in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the RB Leipzig striker is 22 and still learning his craft, although his potential is clearly massive, with Sesko dubbed the ‘future Isak’.

Bryan Mbeumo has been discussing his love for Ollie Watkins, with the pair having played together at Brentford.

Mbeumo and Watkins featured on 46 occasions for the West London club before the latter earned a move to Aston Villa.

The Cameroonian forward admitted that Watkins is the ‘complete striker’ and maybe it could be a great idea for the pair to be reunited at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo told Rio Ferdinand Presents: “He [Watkins] is a complete striker. He can do a lot of things. He can get involved in the play or make runs in behind.

“This is really good for me or a winger because you can use his movements to take up space. He also knows how to combine.”
