Man United suddenly ‘back in the game’ to sign £45m striker after rejected bid for Bryan Mbeumo

After announcing the signing of Matheus Cunha recently, Manchester United would love to also welcome Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford.

Man United have been pushing to sign Bryan Mbeumo in recent weeks, but they are yet to reach an agreement with Brentford, despite the player’s preference to play for Ruben Amorim.

Bryan Mbeumo looks primed for a role just behind the striker in Amorim’s system, perhaps sat alongside Cunha, who will likely operate from the left.

But as the days go by without an agreement, the door is open for a club like Tottenham to steal a deal for Mbeumo.

And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United have not made a new bid since theirs was rejected more than a week ago.

Romano said: “Talks are ongoing for this deal. At the moment, we are still waiting for Man United to try and reach an agreement on the fee with Brentford. They tried with the first bid, it was 10 days ago and rejected.”

Man United now reignite their interest in Fiorentina’s Moise Kean

Amid United’s continued talks to sign Mbeumo, Italian outlet La Gazzetta are now claiming that the Red Devils have returned to the table for striker Moise Kean.

United were linked with Kean some weeks ago, but a deal seemingly never gathered pace.

But now in Sunday’s printed version of La Gazzetta (page 26), it’s claimed that United are ‘back in the game’ to sign Kean.

United are said to be ‘more’ interested than before and their interest from England is considered to be a ‘real danger’ for Saudi Pro League clubs wanting to sign Kean.

According to the report, United were following Kean closely throughout last season, and the striker will have a fairly reasonable release clause at the start of next month.

From the 1st to the 15th of July, Kean will be available for £45m, a striker who scored 25 goals in 44 matches for Fiorentina last term.

Moise Kean has improved significantly since his Everton struggles

Of course, United and Premier League fans will predominantly remember Kean for his 39 appearances with Everton.

Everton bought Kean back in 2019 when he was just 19-years-old, and the move perhaps came too early for the Italian.

But now six years older, Kean is thriving in Serie A, explaining why his £45m release clause could be considered a bit of a bargain.

In terms of the Italian’s style, he’s great in the penalty box owing to his solid first touch and he’s similarly strong in transition too.

But in truth, Kean might only thrive at Old Trafford if United sell Rasmus Hojlund, clearing the path for a regular spot in the starting eleven.

And whilst negotiations are proving somewhat difficult to sign Mbeumo from Brentford, United arguably should be targeting deals for him and Kean, rather than one or the other.
