Manchester United are reportedly battling French side OGC Nice in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris – but could United’s interest in Lloris present Tottenham with the perfect summer opportunity.
French newspaper L’Equipe claim both United and Nice want to sign 34-year-old Lloris this summer – when he enters the final 12 months of his contract. There have been questions marks regarding Lloris, and it is likely that he is replaced soon.
Spurs are ahead of the game, though. Indeed, Spurs have been linked with a handful of goalkeepers – with The Sun claiming that three England goalkeepers are being eyed by Tottenham, two of which are Burnley’s Nick Pope and West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.

The third of that list, though, presents Spurs with the ideal opportunity for a player-plus-cash deal. Indeed, it is claimed that Spurs are considering a move for £40million-rated England international Dean Henderson, who is struggling for game time.
The stopper is currently second fiddle to David De Gea at Old Trafford and Spurs want him as a replacement for the likely-to-be outgoing Lloris. So, surely Spurs can help themselves land Henderson and reduce that asking price, by using Lloris?
It would be an excellent move for Spurs to bring in a goalkeeper that is still very young and is already an England international – potentially his country’s future number one. It would also see Spurs kill two birds with one stone, offloading Lloris.
A no-brainer, then, if Manchester United are truly interested in signing Lloris – that Spurs look to sign Henderson by including the France World Cup winner in a player-plus-cash deal for the ex-Sheffield United loanee this summer.
