Manchester City have to make move for superstar who 'massively' respects De Bruyne - TBR View
Euro 2020 is approaching the tensest and entertaining part of the competition, with the knockout stages starting this weekend.
The group stages saw some shocks from Turkey failing to win a single point despite plenty of hype pre-tournament to the likes of Hungary shocking the so-called ‘group of death’ by coming minutes away from qualifying to the Round of 16.
Yet one thing that has not been a surprise is the form of Belgium, and more importantly, their star striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Inter Milan ace has carried on where he left off domestically, scoring three goals in four matches and firing Belgium to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
A blossoming friendship with De Bruyne
Yet it is his friendship and connection with Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne that has caught the attention of supporters.
Indeed, in an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Lukaku lamented how much he enjoys playing alongside the former Wolfsburg star.
The Inter striker said: “With Kevin, I have the best friendship in the entire national squad. We tell each other stuff that we don’t tell other people. We trust each other massively.”
And the feeling appears to be mutual. In the same piece, De Bruyne lavished his international teammate with praise.
The midfielder said about Lukaku: “People give Rom a lot of stick and he is a victim on social media, but Lukaku is a striker who will score 20 to 25 goals for Man United – and any other club.
“His goal ratio is insane. He belongs to the best strikers in the world.”
Man City can take advantage of situation with Lukaku
There’s no denying Lukaku’s abilities as a goalscorer. The 28-year-old attacker was impoirtant to Inter’s Serie A title win last season, and this summer has seen the striker continue his form with the Red Devils.
And Lukaku must be a player Man City should be looking at in the transfer window with Pep Guardiola’s side in the market for a centre forward.
With Harry Kane seemingly off the market, the Inter star might be the next best option for City. Especially with the Italian club needing to sell big this summer, as reported by Sempre Inter.
Lukaku’s friendship with De Bruyne might open a door for City to sign one of the best attackers in Europe. And as a replacement for Sergio Aguero, the Premier League champions won’t get much better than the Belgian star.
