Manchester City are being linked with a possible summer raid for Southampton’s Danny Ings – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are positive about the speculation.

According to Sky Sports, Man City are interested in signing the 28-year-old from their Premier League rivals Southampton.

It is understood that the English forward would make the move to the Etihad Stadium as a potential successor to Sergio Aguero, who is out of contract this summer.

The report states that Pep Guardiola’s side view Ings as a more attainable option compared to £100m-rated target Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund.

Ings, who earns £75,000-a-week (Spotrac) at St Mary’s, has been a brilliant signing for Southampton since he joined from Liverpool.

The centre-forward finished last season as the Premier League’s second-joint highest scorer (22), while this campaign he’s got nine league goals so far.

He’s someone who’s a fox in the box and a natural finisher, but poor luck with injuries has always been one black mark against his name.

A selection of Man City supporters on social media do feel though that the Southampton frontman could be a great option for them next season.

They do already have talented 23-year-old striker Gabriel Jesus, but will surely need another forward if club legend Aguero departs.

Here are some Man City fans discussing Ings:
