Manchester City have reportedly pulled their interest in signing a £33m-rated player this summer is also rumoured to be wanted by Liverpool.
It’s been a quiet transfer window for both Premier League giants, with Pep Guardiola’s side the only one of the two teams to actually make a signing in the form of Troyes talent Savinho, with Liverpool yet to do anything.
Whilst the Reds have been linked with the likes of Takefusa Kubo, Arne Slot is yet to pull the trigger on a rumoured target despite Liverpool needing reinforcements in virtually every position of the first-team squad.
Yet City might now have just handed Liverpool a huge boost in their pursuit for one player.

City pull out of race to sign Liverpool-linked Jeremie Frimpong
According to GiveMeSport, City have dropped their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, with Kyle Walker set to remain at the Etihad Stadium for another season, after recent reports that the Manchester giants could replace the England international with the Bundesliga champion.
Valued at £33m, Frimpong has also emerged as a target for Liverpool this summer, with the Dutch international potentially lined up as a replacement for Trent-Alexander-Arnold, who continues to be linked with a shock move to Real Madrid.
Even if the 25-year-old defender doesn’t leave Anfield this summer, Frimpong could be viewed as a realistic signing for Slot, with the transfer allowing Alexander-Arnold to move into central midfield for the new season.
And with City now out of the race for the former Celtic star for this summer, Liverpool need to ensure they do all they can to land Frimpong, who could thrive on Merseyside under Slot having become a superstar fullback at Leverkusen.

Frimpong could be exceptional for Liverpool in the Premier League
Frimpong played a key role for Xabi Alonso in Leverkusen’s double-winning season as a right-wingback, and it’s easy to see why the Dutch international could be such a threat for Liverpool in the Premier League.
Not only would the transfer open up the door fully for Alexander-Arnold to become a midfielder, but the change in dynamic could make Liverpool’s right-hand side even more dangerous with Frimpong and Mohamed Salah.
Indeed, Frimpong could be an excellent singing for the Reds if the Merseyside giants move quick enough to secure the defender’s signature, and the Dutch star himself could be keen on a move to Anfield this summer.
