Leeds United had a fairly disappointing January transfer window. Bringing in Real Madrid keeper Kiko Casilla was a big coup. However, losing out in their well-publicised pursuit of Daniel James was a big blow.
Leeds’ wobble continued at the weekend with a 3-1 loss at home to promotion rivals Norwich City.
But earlier in the day a current Leeds player also gave the club reason to be cheerful.
Mallik Wilks scored as Doncaster Rovers earned a 1-1 draw with League One title chasers Portsmouth.

It was a goal which highlighted his best qualities. A long ball over the top saw Wilks demonstrate his blistering pace and strength before he coolly slotted home a left-foot finish.
It was the attacker’s 10th goal of the season in a campaign he has largely been used from the wing.
It might not be a new arrival, but Wilks did sign a new deal at Leeds in January. At the start of the month, as reported on the official Leeds United website, he signed a new deal keeping him at Elland Road until 2022.
Leeds might be having a wobble but Wilks is showcasing some of his best form. Perhaps he might be their best piece of January 2019 business in the long-term.
