Malachi Walcott makes claim about Tottenham future on Instagram

Tottenham youngster Malachi Walcott has claimed on social media he plans to stay loyal to the North London, with an emphatic three-word answer about his future plans.

The teenage defender is a highly-rated talent currently impressing in the Spurs academy and he will have seen several players break into the first-team scene in recent years.

He’s yet to earn a senior minute in his career, but has stepped up to the Under-23s development side this campaign to show his progress.

The 17-year-old is a centre-back blessed with rapid pace and he’s represented England on the international stage with the Under-17s side.

Walcott responded on his Instagram story with “yes of course” to the question on whether he plans to stay loyal to Spurs.

Those who watch Spurs at youth level will be aware of promising talent Walcott, who is an extremely athletic centre-back with so much potential in the future.

It’s no surprise to hear the boyhood Spurs fan plan to stick with his club and his job over the next few years is to try get an opportunity in the senior fold, or look to go out on loan to help his development if needed.

Japhet Tanganga is a defender from the academy who has broken into Jose Mourinho’s squad this season and there will be an opportunity to make the leap up if you’re good enough.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane and Harry Winks are also recent examples of academy stars more than cutting the grade at senior level.
