‘Majestic’…BBC pundit seriously impressed with £40m Chelsea player this weekend

Chelsea cruised their way past Sheffield United this weekend as summer signing Cole Palmer once again rose to the challenge.

The Blades had been stubborn in their approach in the second half but a better second half, led by Palmer, ensured Chelsea picked up a much-needed win.

Palmer, who cost Chelsea £40m in the summer when he signed from Man City, has been one of the stars of the season and recently got himself involved in the England set-up.

And after a goal and assist this weekend, Palmer also got himself included in Garth Crooks’ team of the week for the BBC.

Garth Crooks seriously impressed by Cole Palmer

Including Palmer in his team of the week, Crooks mentioned a few Chelsea players who are exciting right now for Blues fans.

But in particular, he felt the former City man was ‘majestic’ against the Blades.

“The Chelsea manager’s job is one of the most sought-after posts in the game and there will be a queue of possible candidates wanting it should the position become available. However, what is in Mauricio Pochettino’s favour is that he is developing a very watchable team. Raheem Sterling is in excellent form, and has been ever since Gareth Southgate left him out of a number of England squads. Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo and, in particular, Cole Palmer, who looked majestic against Sheffield United, are all exciting prospects. Chelsea are still in the Carabao Cup and with a good run of games a European finish isn’t out of the question,” Crooks said.

Cole Palmer a real find for Pochettino

Pep Guardiola knew that Palmer was a talent and he tried to get him to stay this season. In the end, the young winger wanted out and a move to Chelsea looked a bold move at the time.

However, he has turned into a real find for Chelsea and Pochettino and now looks like money seriously well spent.

His performance this weekend was excellent and he effectively dragged Chelsea over the line when it looked like it might be another frustrating day at the office.

Right now, Palmer is looking more and more like being on the plane to Germany with England. And if he keeps producing like this, then there’s little reason why Southgate will ignore him.
