‘Mahrez-like’, ‘what a star’: Some Manchester City fans wowed by 18-year-old’s latest masterclass

A number of Manchester City fans have praised Cole Palmer’s impressive performance for the Citizens Under-23s against their Liverpool counterparts on Friday evening.

The Premier League 2 leaders fell behind in the 16th minute when Joe Hardy dispatched a calm finish beyond Cieran Slicker from inside the area.

However, City restored parity when Palmer latched onto a ball over the top before setting up Alexander Robertson with a neat backheel, the No. 10 duly rifling home.

The 18-year-old then got on the scoresheet himself, launching into a run from out wide, getting the better of Tom Clayton and firing into the back of the net.

Hardy grabbed his second of the night just after the break to make it 2-2, placing an effort past Slicker after Ben Woodburn cut the ball back to him.

But City weren’t to be denied, and edged themselves back in front late on when substitute Felix Nmecha brought down down Ben Knight’s cross and poked home.

Another superb performance from one of City’s teams, and fans were especially impressed with Palmer’s efforts:
