‘Magnificent today’: Arsenal fans praise Ben White for Watford performance

It was a tight old affair between Arsenal and Watford this afternoon as the Gunners managed to come away with a hard-earned three points in the end.

Emile Smith Rowe scored midway through the second half to give Arsenal the lead. It was a lead that was deserved in fairness, given Bukayo Saka had seen a goal disallowed and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had missed a penalty.

For Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, though, the main thing was picking up the win and continuing their good form. Smith Rowe’s goal proved enough for them to do just that, and the Spanish coach will take small wins all day.

Among the Arsenal players to perform well today was Ben White. The £50m summer signing is growing into games week after week. And once again today against Watford, he was excellent in the back four.

Somehow, White has been left out of the latest England squad. But that didn’t stop Arsenal fans singing his praises on Twitter after today. In fact, some questioned even more why Southgate hadn’t picked him.
