‘Magnificent’: Sky pundit left amazed by £20m Leeds player who was an absolute ‘menace’ at Anfield
Leeds picked up an important victory against Liverpool on Saturday night, ending their run of eight games without a win in the Premier League.
Rodrigo opened the scoring for the Whites as he latched onto a loose back pass by Joe Gomez.
Liverpool equalised through Mohamed Salah but Jesse Marsch’s men grabbed a late winner in Merseyside. Crysencio Summerville poked the ball past Alisson Becker in the 89th minute to hand Leeds a massive three points.
Marsch’s men produced brilliant displays all-round, particularly Illan Meslier between the sticks. But Warnock was particularly impressed with Adams’ performance in central midfield.
Warnock left amazed by Adams
Adams has adjusted to English football admirably since making the switch from Red Bull Leipzig for £20 million over the summer (Sky Sports).
He put in another commanding display at Anfield on Saturday and Warnock highlighted his impact on Sky Sports News today.
“Superb. A game of frustration. That’s what you have to do against Liverpool, you have to frustrate and be difficult to play against,” Warnock said.
“Tyler Adams, what a performance! He is not a pleasing player on the eye that’s going to hit 50 to 60 yard diagonals.
“He’s not going to dictate the speed of play. But what he’s going to do, he’s going to be a menace and he’s going to be a player who closes down extremely well.”
The former Blackburn defender analysed Adams’ involvement from midfield, praising him for frequently breaking up play and bypassing Liverpool’s press with incisive passing.
He rounded off the analysis by adding: “Magnificent performance from an extremely important player for Leeds.”
The 23-year-old was exceptional against Jurgen Klopp’s side and fully deserves the plaudits after his display.
Adams has been a standout performer at Elland Road, even through a difficult spell for the side over the past two months.
The American is proving to be an astute signing for the Whites and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
