‘Made me want to support Villa’: Arsenal fans react to Purslow’s Grealish statement

Arsenal fans were interested onlookers yesterday as Manchester City confirmed the signing of Aston Villa star, Jack Grealish.

Not that the Gunners were ever going to really sign Grealish. In fact, that deal was never, ever going to happen.

Instead, Arsenal fans were more intrigued with how Villa handled the situation and were suitably impressed with Villa CEO, Christian Purslow, posted a five-minute clip explaining why Grealish had been sold.

Given the Gunners’ fans relationship with their own board, Purslow’s comments were like a breath of fresh air. His explanation and reasoning was clear, and it was obvious as to why Villa had to let Grealish leave.

Twitter was full of Arsenal fans who were quick to praise Purslow and Villa, while some also drew the obvious comparisons to their own club and board.

With Arsenal fans desperate for new signings, desperate for new owners – it seems anyway – and keen to see the club succeed, there was plenty of reaction indeed to Purslow’s comments.
