Ryan Jack scored a stunning volley for Rangers on Saturday afternoon as Steven Gerrard’s side edged past Kilmarnock at Ibrox – and both Lyndon Dykes and Graham Dorrans have responded to his strike on Instagram.

Jack, 28, lashed home a volley from 20 yards out after teeing himself up for an effort with a brilliant first touch – proving to be the only goal of the game as new Killie boss Tommy Wright suffered a second successive defeat in his two opening matches.

Scotland midfielder Jack equalled the total number of goals he scored in 250 games for Aberdeen with Saturday’s strike, his 11th for Rangers – but he has taken just 128 Rangers appearances to reach that figure. It was his second of the season.

The win sees Rangers remain within touching distance of lifting the Scottish Premiership trophy this season, though Celtic did prevent the gap from increasing with a 2-1 win over St. Johnstone – despite going behind on Sunday. Jack posted on Instagram.

With nine league games to pay, Rangers sit 18 ahead of Celtic – though the Hoops have a game in hand. If Rangers win four of their remaining nine Premiership matches, they will reach 91 points, which is the maximum figure Celtic can achieve.

Jack’s goal was a crucial one, then. Queens Park Rangers striker and Scotland teammate Dykes – who was linked with Rangers before his move down south to Mark Waburton’s side – commented on his post, while Dorrans posted on his story.

Kenny McLean also commented a couple of emojis.
