'Lung-busting display': Alasdair Gold wowed by £20m Tottenham ace's '8/10' performance today
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg delivered an impressive display against Wolves on Saturday.
The Dane has been an integral part of the Spurs starting XI since his £20million move from Southampton in 2020.
Hojbjerg has played the full 90 minutes in each of Tottenham’s three Premier League games so far this season.
He also scored a crucial goal against Chelsea last week, grabbing the first equaliser for Spurs on 68 minutes.
Hojbjerg’s performance against Wolves wasn’t flawless – he did get a booking early on – but it was certainly solid.
Alasdair Gold loved what he saw from the 27-year-old, giving him 8 out of 10.
“A driving performance from the midfield as he tried to push Spurs on the pitch,” he wrote on football.london.
“Made one great run late in the game up the pitch and had another late shot at goal in a lung-busting display.”
Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard gave Hojbjerg 7 out of 10, praising his display but highlighting some flaws.
“Booked early on for a tactical foul but put in a shift defensively and was a willing runner until the end,” he wrote.
“Occasionally panicky in the final third while in possession.”
While Hojbjerg is a superb player for Tottenham, uncertainty over his future has arisen in recent days.
According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are eyeing the Denmark international.
Carlo Ancelotti, who tried to sign Hojbjerg while at Everton, is apparently set to recommend him as Casemiro’s replacement.
With just 12 days left of the transfer window, Spurs fans will be hoping the board holds firm and doesn’t consider any bids.
