Luke Ayling reacts on Instagram to Joe Gelhardt display in Leeds draw

Luke Ayling was amongst a raft of names to laud Joe Gelhardt on Instagram after his performance for Leeds United in their Premier League draw with Wolves on Saturday.

The Whites may have finally ignited their campaign after a dramatic end to their clash with Bruno Lage’s men at Elland Road.

Leeds went a goal down early on. And it appeared that they were destined to fall to another disappointing defeat.

However, the game changed during the latter stages. And it is hard to argue with those who put that down to the introduction of Gelhardt during the second-half.

The 19-year-old tested Jose Sa with a thunderous shot after some superb work between himself and Rodrigo.

And it was his burst into the box that led to Leeds winning the penalty that presented the Spaniard with a chance to equalise.

He danced past Ruben Neves some 30 yards out before darting into the area. Nelson Semedo was unable to prevent himself bringing Gelhardt down once the forward got the wrong side of him.

It was a remarkable showing from the Leeds teenager. He has certainly staked a claim for a lot more game-time in the weeks ahead.

Unsurprisingly, Gelhardt took to social media following the draw. He lauded the fans who created an outstanding atmosphere as Leeds pushed for an equaliser.

But it was Gelhardt who received the plaudits in response. Ayling was amongst those to laud him, while Cody Drameh made reference to the Lionel Messi comparisons following the run for the penalty…
