Luke Ayling and Leeds fans love what Raphinha did for Brazil on Friday morning
Raphinha helped Brazil come from behind to beat Venezuela in what was his first senior cap – prompting reaction from Leeds fans and Luke Ayling.
Raphinha, 24, was called up in September but due to rules over isolation – he did not meet up with Tite’s squad. This time around, he did travel.
Brazil take on Venezuela, Colombia and Uruguay during the break – and they recorded a 3-1 win in the first of those matches.
However, they were losing 1-0 at the break and Tite chose to introduce Raphinha. A Leeds favourite, he is now a hero in his home country.
That is because he laid on two second-half assists to get Brazil back into a winning position – setting up goals for Marquinhos and Antony to score.
It is hardly a surprise to Leeds fans that Raphinha was in fine form for his country – and neither Ayling, who sent him a message on Instagram.
Raphinha gets two assists on Brazil debut: Leeds fans respond
He was unlucky not to have an assist earlier on into his debut. A free-kick was headed in, only for one of Brazil’s stars to be ruled offside.
Eventually, his delivery into the box proved the difference. His corner from the left flank was powerfully headed into the net by PSG ace Marquinhos.
Brazil then won a penalty. Gabriel Barbosa chipped down the middle, before Raphinha’s run saw him pull back for Antony on the byline.
A stunning debut from the Leeds ace, one that will surely place him even more so onto the radar of big clubs. Leeds fans were delighted for him.
