Luis Garcia wowed by Liverpool star who's 'always effective'
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been praised by Reds cult hero Luis Garcia, in conversation with PA.
The 30-year-old joined Liverpool to much fanfare last September, arriving from Bayern Munich in a £25million deal.
Thiago’s first half-season at Anfield wasn’t plain sailing amid injury and illness, but he soon cemented a starting spot.
The Spaniard clocked up 30 appearances in all competitions last term, including 24 in the Premier League.
This season, Thiago has made four appearances – three off the subs’ bench and one start, against Leeds last week.
His efforts against Marcelo Bielsa’s side saw him make Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.
And though he didn’t start against Milan on Wednesday, he did well once he came on.
“He’s a player who, when he is on the ball, is always effective,” Garcia told PA, via The Independent.
“When he’s on the field you can see the other players look for him because he’s the one who can make that difference, that last pass in-between the lines.
“I’m sure he’s going to be an important player during the season.
“We expect him to play every, single week and midweek but that’s not possible anymore with the demands of the game, not many players can have that strength to play 90 minutes every three days.
“It’s true that the adaptation to the Premier League is not easy, he has to work a lot more when he plays in midfield.
“But I enjoy every single time he’s on the field because I like to see creative players on the pitch.”
