Luis Garcia was not at all impressed by the performance of Cody Gakpo after Liverpool claimed a narrow win in the final moments against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.
With the Reds continuing to deal with so many injuries to key players right now, Cody Gakpo started in the middle of the front three against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Ultimately however, Liverpool required a 99th minute header from Darwin Nunez to secure a massive three points in the Premier League title race.
Cody Gakpo struggles in Liverpool win
By that stage, Gakpo had been taken off for youngster Jayden Danns. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing day for the 24-year-old. His only two attempts on goal were off target. And he was extremely poor in the second-half.

Certainly, speaking on ESPN, Luis Garcia suggested that it was a really difficult day at the office for the Dutchman.
“Gakpo today, struggled so much. We saw him a couple of times in the middle, rushing things. He didn’t have the composure that he’s done at other times,” he said.
Dutchman’s form will be a concern for Jurgen Klopp
Gakpo’s form has been underwhelming. Admittedly, he is one of the more versatile options in the Liverpool attack. So he has not always played in the number nine role.
However, he has only scored two goals in his last 11 games in all competitions. That is not going to be good enough if Gakpo is going to play a prominent role during the title run-in.
Nunez meanwhile, has scored twice as many goals in the Premier League this season. And the Uruguayan has provided more than double the number of assists in the same number of appearances.
It is unquestionably a massive boost for Liverpool to have Nunez back from injury. And hopefully his return helps bring the best out of the attacking players around him, including Gakpo.
