Antonio Conte has finally joined Tottenham Hotspur after being linked in the summer – and his old master, Luigi De Canio, has made a prediction.
Conte has penned an 18-month contract at Tottenham as Nuno Espirito Santo’s replacement. The deal includes an option to extend by a year.
Cutting his teeth in the world of football management, Conte began as an assistant manager at Siena – during the 2005-06 season.
He worked under De Canio – not to mistaken for West Ham icon Paulo Di Canio – during that season. Then, he embarked on his managerial career.
Conte learned a lot from De Canio, and the latter has made a prediction about his Tottenham tenure that will certainly have Spurs fans excited.
“He brings passion, professionalism, determination. He will apply his rules, his philosophy. These are all important aspects,” De Canio told TMW.
“He will always be himself and he will be a winner there too, even if it is difficult to say whether now or in the near future. But he will do well.”

De Canio on Conte at Tottenham: Can he end 13-year wait?
Of course, Tottenham last won a trophy in 2008 – the Carabao Cup. Since then, a lack of trophy has been synonymous with Spurs.
It has been the reason for players choosing to leave, for players deciding that they could do better. Harry Kane almost left because of it.
But the addition of Conte changes that. He wins trophies, more regularly than Jose Mourinho. Spurs are well-placed to win two, at the moment.
They remain one of the biggest sides in the Conference League despite a shaky start. Spurs are also in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Conte can end his new side’s 13-year wait, this season.
