England manager Gareth Southgate wants Jack Grealish to play in the Premier League before he gets an international call-up, The Telegraph reports.
Grealish is currently representing Aston Villa – his boyhood club – in the Championship but Southgate wants to judge him after he has played regular Premier League football.
The 23-year-old has been impressive for the Villans this season, inspiring them to a late surge for the play-offs.
But ex-Aston Villa defender Southgate has challenged Grealish to show what he can do in the top flight before he gets his Three Lions nod.

Speaking about a potential call-up for Grealish, Southgate said: When the evidence of the opponent is a different level, that’s where it’s hard to directly correlate what that is going to look like at a level above.
“With Callum [Hudson-Odoi], he’s playing Europa League, he’s playing Premier League, that does make a difference. I’m not going to say we won’t pick a player from the Championship because that could happen but it’s far more difficult to assess his level.”
Here are some things Aston Villa fans are saying about Southgate’s comments on Grealish.
