Leeds United moved up to third in the Premier League table on Friday night, as they continued an excellent start to life back in the top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s have now picked up 10 points from the opening six league games and produced an eye-catching performance to beat Aston Villa away from home last night.

After a frantic first-half contest, the Whites proved too much in the end for their opposition and recorded a 3-0 victory at Villa Park.

In-form Leeds striker Patrick Bamford scored a quick-fire hat-trick in the second-half to take his goal tally up to six for the season, plus the performance was made even more impressive considering they were missing two influential figures Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips through injury.

Ex-Leeds strikers Luciano Becchio and Jermaine Beckford were both on Twitter post-match to give their responses to the result.

TBR’s View:

Despite promotion from the Championship last season, it looks like Leeds have more than just surviving in the Premier League on their minds this year and the early signs are that they can be aiming for a top-1o finish.

The opening weeks of the league season has thrown up some wild results suggesting that the division is wide open and Leeds are proving that they will be a tough test for any team.

Bielsa’s side have games against Leicester City and Crystal Palace before the next internatonal break, which will be a big opportunity for them to try cement their spot towards the top end of the table.
